Congratulations Reshonda Scott, Finalist, 2026 Florida Assistant Principal of the Year

Reshonda Scott of East Ridge High School has been named one of three finalists for the 2026 Florida Assistant Principal of the Year award, the Florida Department of Education announced on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Superintendent Diane Kornegay and other district leaders surprised her at school with the news the same day.

Scott, East Ridge High's Assistant Principal of the Year, was named Lake County Schools' Assistant Principal of the Year in October 2025. She joined the district in 2013, starting as a language arts teacher at Windy Hill Middle. She was promoted to assistant principal there in 2018, and transferred to East Ridge High in 2022.

“Mrs. Scott has a special gift. Her calm, thoughtful nature makes everyone around her feel supported and valued,” East Ridge High School Principal Julie Robinson-Lueallen said.  “She always takes the time to think through what’s best for students and teachers, bringing out the very best in each of us. Her steady leadership and compassion make her an exceptional administrator who truly leads with heart. Our school is brighter because of her!”

Each year, FLDOE selects for statewide recognition an assistant principal who has used teamwork and leadership skills to enhance student performance, promote safe learning environments, and establish partnerships with parents and community members.

Scott, along with Ryan Garrett of Seminole County and Melissa Miller of Miami-Dade County, are finalists for that recognition.
